Mazu Cycling Challenge, a highlighted event of the 2017 Taiwan Cycling Festival, took place on July 9 and 10 at Nangan and Beigan. Along the way, the participants enjoyed scenery of Mazu’s previous war zones.
This year’s challenge was held on two full days and it included two hill-climbing contests, one from Nangan’s Fuao Sports Field to Yuntai Mountain (6km) and the other from Beigan’s Baisha Wharf to Bishan Scenic Platform (5km). The participants said the contests were like mini KOMs. After the contests, a round-the-Mazu cycling tour (55km) through Nangan and Beinan was held. Mazu’s famous scenic spots, such as Zhuluo, Jinsha, Yuntai Mountain, Tunnel 88, Qinbi, Banli and Tangqi Village were all included in the trip. The scenery along the way was simply beautiful. This was a must-do for all cyclists who like some challenge.
More of the festival’s main and side events will take place soon. Please continue to visit the Taiwan Cycling Festival site for the latest updates.
