Taiwan KOM Challenge

 

Event description:

This challenging 105-km cycling trip full of adventure will let you push your limits and take you from sea level to an elevation of 3,275 m, during which you can marvel at the majestic views of the seas of Hualien/Taitung and world-renowned Taroko Gorge. This bike route shows the world Taiwan’s unique charms and gives you an “unprecedented, exhilarating sensation”.

 

Date of event:

 The Wall of Matsu- June 9th -10th, 2018

 Spring Competition- held in March-April each year

Summer Competition- held in July-August each year

 

Place of event:

Wuling, Hehuan Mountain, Qixingtan

 

Suitable for:

 Talented riders from famous competitions around the world and the top female riders are invited to Taiwan. Non-competition riders from Taiwan and abroad can also sign up for the event.

 

Cycling route:

 Pacific coast at Hualien’s Qixingtan→Taroko Bridge→Provincial Highway No. 8 → Tianxiang→Xibao→Xinbaiyang→BiluSacredTree→Guanyuan→Dayuling→Provincial Highway No. 14A→Wuling on Hehuan Mountain. Total distance: 105 km, with an elevation difference of 3,275 meters between the start point and end point.

 

Highlights:

 Challenge yourself at the world-renowned “Taroko Gorge”.

 Super-long climbing distance (105 km uphill) until you reach the highest point on Hehuan Mountain Highway.

 Champion wins a prize of NT$500,000.

 Talented riders from famous competitions around the world and the top female riders are invited to Taiwan to experience the beauty of Taiwan and its world-class views.

 With the greatest climbing elevation from 0 to 3,275 meters through 87 km of continuously climbing track, this is one of the world’s rare trails.
