Taipei is surrounded by hills, and the entire basin is composed of the Tamsui River system and plains. The city developed along the Tamsui River system. Whether it was water diversion, irrigation, or waterway transportation by the early inhabitants, or for tourism and leisure today, all paths are inseparable from this mother river. If you want to experience the scenery along the Tamsui River by bicycle, you can start from the Beimen, which is one of the city gates of Taipei. First, enter Dadaocheng and take a look at Dadaocheng old town, which is a prosperous business travel area since Tamsui's port opened. Then enter the Dadaocheng Wharf on the bank of the Tamsui River, follow the riverside bicycle path, and imagine that you are like a junk that used to travel on the river, carrying a boat full of tea to the harbor. Come to the confluence of the KeelungRiver and Tamsui River on the other side of Shezi Dao, look forward to the Datun Mountain Range reflected in the wide river, and the local religious center on the opposite bank — Guandu Temple. If you're not in a hurry to go to Tamsui, first come to the left bank of Bali by the two beautiful landscape bridges of Shezi bridge and Guandu Bridge, and then go to the left bank of Bali with your bike by ferry, just like the foreign business travelers who entered Tamsui River by boat and landed in the pier. Arriving in Tamsui, in addition to enjoying the river banks and old streets, you can also visit the traditional buildings and temples built by the early inhabitants, the western-style buildings and churches left by early foreign explorers or missionaries, and even the Japanese-style buildings left by the colonialists. The traces left behind help you understand the town better. Finally, take a sip of coffee by the pier and leave a shadow for yourself under the golden sunset to end this wonderful trip.
