The Penghu Islands are located in the Taiwan Strait between Taiwan and the Eurasian continent. They were gradually formed from hot lava after the cooling by seawater and air. The terrain is flat and there are no obvious mountain undulations. Because it is located in the strait, the northeast monsoon is strong and carries salt in winter. In addition to making the island's native plants different from Taiwan's main island, many exotic plants have taken root here. For example, the firewheel chrysanthemum in Penghu County is one of the most representative plants. Due to the gentle terrain and the fact that there are bridges and roads connecting the three major islands of Penghu island, Baisha island and Pescadores, it is very suitable for traveling and getting to know each area by bicycle. This itinerary starts from Magong City and is divided into two days of cycling. On the first day, the main island of Penghu is the focus of our sightseeing. First, visit the Shetoushan recreation area, Fongguei Cave, and Shihli Beach on the west side, and then visit Lintou golden beach on the east side of the island, Kubishan Recreational Area, and other scenic spots. Then return to Magong City in the evening to settle down and then depart from Magong City for Baisha island and Pescadores the next day. On the second day, there are a lot of attractions, such as Wind Turbines, Tongliang Great Banyan, Penghu Great Bridge, Erkan Village in the traditional settlement preservation area with traditional southern Fujian architectural style, and Chihtung Daguoye Columnar Basalt, which shows local geological characteristics. Of course, there are also Xiyu East Fort, which records history, and the unforgettable Yuwengdao Lighthouse. The scenery along the way is beautiful and the terrain is gentle, so it is worth slowing down to get to know the island.
