Golden Mountain Sea Cycling Route for 2 Days
The KeelungRiver of the Tamsui River system played an important role in the development of northern Taiwan by being used for irrigation and water transportation. In the early years, early inhabitants traveled between Bangka and Kavalan, and some parts of the ancient Danlan Trail system also followed the mountain trails near the KeelungRiver. Later, due to the rise of the gold rush, coal mining, and other industries, Taiwan entered the process of modernization. The earliest railway transportation lines were built along the banks of the KeelungRiver and finally crossed the mountain to Keelung and Yilan. This tour starts from Raohe Street near Songshan Station and runs to KeelungRiver Xikou (Rainbow) Wharf. From here, follow the riverside bicycle path upstream, first to Xizhi, which was once prosperous due to the transfer of the KeelungRiver, and then visit XizhiOld Street. Continue along the bicycle path through the old Taiwan Railway's Wudu tunnels connecting New Taipei City and Keelung City, leave the bicycle path to Qidu City, and enjoy local delicacies near the train station. Next, follow the river bank and the road beside the railway to arrive in Ruifang, which was once prosperous due to mining in the past. You can thus roam the old street and complete the first day of the itinerary. On the second day, depart from Ruifang and first enter the Ruihou Bicycle Path renovated from the old railway, and go through the "Houtong Cat VillageOld Tunnels" to Houtong Cat Village, which was previously an important coal production area. Here, visit the Houtong Cat Village or check out relics of the mining industry. Reuse the Sandiaoling to pass through the mountains of Mudan to Shuangxi, which was once an important pass of the Danlan Trail. Walking along the old street slowly, you can visit relics left behind and cherish the memory of the old days of the town, then continue from the Provincial Highway 2C to Fulong. Next, enter the Old Caoling bicycle path, and leisurely circle around the mountain and sea in Sandiaojiao, and finally complete the journey of the Golden Shanhai Line at Fulong Station of the Taiwan Railway.
