Two-day tour in JiaNan Plain, coast
Although Taiwan is mountainous and the terrain is mostly mountains and hills, the coastal area on the west side of the JiaNan Plain is full of dunes, lagoons, estuaries, and other coastal and wetland terrains along its seemingly endless plain. Whether it is the setting sun, salt pans, wetlands, or fish farms, this place has a completely different coastal style from other places in Taiwan. In terms of industry, due to the nutrients brought by the river, there is a strong agricultural, fishery, and aquaculture industry. On the other hand, because it used to be a lagoon or wetland, the excessive salt made the land difficult to cultivate for the people who lived here for generations. The long history of wrestling with nature has condensed the locals' religious beliefs and importance of their temples. This tour can start from Chiayi Station. First, walk along the Yellow Pui tunnel and Bead Tree Green Tunnel by the Puzi River, then connect to the Puzi Rive Bicycle Paths at the Suantou sugar factory and then go all the way to the west coast to visit Donshi pier, Budai, and stay overnight in Budai on the first day. Before the night falls, you can watch the sunset and eat seafood, or enjoy the colorful High-Heel Wedding Church under the starry sky. In the early morning of the next day, head south along the coastline to the Beimen scenic area where you can first visit the Crystal Church and the Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields, the oldest existing tile-paved salt fields. Then turn to the Central Highway of Taiwan provincial highway 19, go toYuejin Harbor, which used to be one of the four major ports in the "Dao-feng Inland Sea Area", which is now the Yanshui District. After visiting the unique Yanshui Donggang Church, Old Street, Octagonal Pavilion, and other attractions, go to Xinying Station to complete this two-day and one-night plain and seaside bicycle tour.
