Little Ring Road in Cape Eluanbi
This is a cycling route that crosses the end of the central mountain range from the Hengchun Ancient City Gate and can go around Cape Eluanbi. Hengchun Township is the starting point and was formerly known as "Lang Qiao". Hengchun not only has traces of the evolution of Taiwan's modern history but is also the most complete ancient city in Taiwan. The blessings of well-known movies and TV series make this place a must-visit sight for tourists before heading to Kenting. The other end of the route, Cape Eluanbi, is located at the end of the Central Mountain Range that runs through Taiwan. It is a cape at the southernmost tip of the island, also known as the South Cape. It faces the Philippines across the Bashi Channel. The Cape Eluanbi lighthouse was built on the cape in 1881. When the tower was built, the area was still under the influence of the aboriginals. There were gun holes on the fences and trenches outside the wall, so it used to be an armed lighthouse. This tour can start from Hengchun. First, visit the ruins of the ancient city to learn about the history of southern Taiwan. Then follow the rising and falling direction of the sun from Hengchun city to the east to meet the sun and cross the tail of the Central Mountain Range, which is not too elevated, to the Pacific side, and then along the coast. Turning to the south, enjoy the scenery of the southern country such as Fongchueisha, Xiao Shuiwaku prairie, Longpan Park, etc., and then go to the southernmost cape of Taiwan and Cape Eluanbi lighthouse to enjoy the tour. Since it will already be afternoon when you pass the southernmost tip of Taiwan, the temperature drop will make the ride more comfortable, and the sunset over the Taiwan Strait is a sight not to be missed on this route. Therefore, with the company of the setting sun, you can ride back to the Hengchun Ancient City Gate before night falls, and complete this Cape Eluanbi ring road tour with cultural characteristics and southern scenery.
