Light Tribal Trip along the Northern Section of a Mountain Road

48.30KM
Route Length
Level 2 (suitable for those with medium and long-distance riding experience)

County highway 185 in Pingtung County is built along the west side of the Central Mountain Range, so it is also known as the "Mountain Highway". In addition to the geographical and topographic features, many Paiwan and Rukai tribes are living along the County highway 185. From Dajin in Gaoshu Township in the northern section of the County highway 185 to Rinari in Majia Township, many tribes have trails to connect, and some are even on the side of County highway 185; if you ride a bicycle, you can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way, You can also get to know each tribe up close, which is a wonderful route to get to know these aboriginal hometowns by bicycle. For example, Rinari, located in Majia Township, Pingtung county, has gathered new tribes who moved to the permanent house of Majia Farm due to the severe disaster caused by the Typhoon Morakot. Due to the wide area and beautiful scenery of the new community, coupled with the innate aesthetic feeling of the Paiwan and
Rukai people who moved here, through years of construction, Rinari has made the streets and alleys, houses, schools, and churches, full of artistic atmosphere showing the strong vitality of the locals. In addition, there are many tribes along the route, and each tribe has its own characteristics, as well as its own legends and stories, all of which are worth visiting one by one. It is recommended to properly read about the traditional culture, beliefs, habits, and other information of the Paiwan and Rukai people before departure, then start from the Rinari Tribe and go north in order, so that you can feel the kindness and enthusiasm of the indigenous friends during this leisurely trip. That's the way that leads us to get close to this land.
